Please Note:
Details have been updated for 2010.  However, please continue to check the website for any updates.

Event description:
A grassroots 12 hour mountain bike race.  4th year as a 12 hour race - 8th year for race venue.  Race time is 7 AM to 7 PM.  100% of the race proceeds benefit Montezuma County Partners, a local, 501(c)3 non-profit, organization that has been mentoring at-risk youth for 18 years.

Race course:
Racers will ride on a stellar network of singletrack known as Phil's World - in the shadow of Mesa Verde.  The race course twists and turns through juniper trees, intermittent technical spots, and fast descents.  The trail will be marked the week before the race.  Area maps are available at from Big Loop Maps or at Kokopelli Bike & Board

Event location:
The 12 hours of Mesa Verde is staged at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds in Cortez, Colorado, and utilizes 16 miles of the Phil's World trail system.  Cortez is located in the southwest corner of Colorado (10 minutes from the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park and 45 minutes from Durango).

Camping:
Camping is available for no charge at the fairgrounds lot.  There are no RV hookups.  Campfires are allowed only in a fire pan or similar "leave no trace" type device.  Water is available and there will be portajohns.

Lodging:
Visit the Eat and Sleep page, or check out the Cortez chamber site for lodging links. Cortez Lodging Link

Food and Beverages:
Lotsa Pasta will once again be there serving great food during the race and will provide a FREE meal at the race venue to every racer and volunteer (this will be their 8th year).  This year Spruce Tree Coffee House will also be serving up Lattés and other goodies.

Weather:
The weather can vary dramtically and has proved so throughout the years of doing this race.  2007 was smokin' hot, 2008 was definitely cooler, and 2009 was just right.  However, even in cool, wet weather the trail can stay in perfect tacky condition.  Cortez Weather Link

Lap and time tracking:
We use a computer program to track lap times.  Racers and spectators can view lap times, placement, and statistics at anytime during the event on a dedicated computer.

Awards and schwag:
Every race will receive a T-shirt and schwag back. There will be custom trophies and plenty of great prizes at the awards celebration which will be held at the event staging area immediately after the end of the race.
